Day 2

Some believe it's easy to replace normal food with shakes and soups and while that may be true for some I find it hard to cope up with. See I love cooking my own meals and I think I'm quite an average cook, or at least I know my way around kitchen. I also love to have good food, cooked in house rather than precooked or take away so I'm now missing both cooking and having it. So I have cravings all the time, and the sensation of hunger doesn't help either. And the only way to deal with it is to find something to do which for me is hard as I'm alone and don't get to hang out with friends and so on. As for the hunger, the idea is to have tons of water so your stomach is full most of the times. Well, I had about 3 litres of water yesterday, and 4.5 litres today. That includes one or two cans of Fanta zero which I'm allowed to have. Stats for today - blood sugar at 8.6 - blood pressure in the green at 128/69, the lowest I have seen it in the last two months. Now

First meeting, first day of my weight loss journey

So today is the official start date of my weight loss journey and as such I have stopped having any normal food and started taking the total dietary replacement shakes and soups. Short meeting with the dietitian where I've tested my blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and I've jumped onto the scales for the official, start up weight, which is a whooping 111.8 kg. Got some advice what to do next and then I was on my way home, where I've spent my time trying to ignore the heat and the craves. Not very pleasant I can tell you that. Trick: drink a lot of water, helps on both. The whole thing started with: - weight: 111.8 kg - blood pressure: 148/88  (last week dailies: 130/92 141/82 129/93 126/97 145/92 153/889 136/103) - blood sugar: 8.7 (last week dailies: 12.1 11.1 9.6 10.3 8.8 10.2 10.0)

Some other issues with blood pressure

In May this year I started to feel really bad so I checked my blood pressure which was really high. I thought it'll go down on its own so gave it a few days, then tested again only to find out it was still high. I therefore contacted my GP about it and set up an appointment. A couple days later after I took my blood pressure daily and made notes I have seen one of the doctors who admitted that the pressure is higher than normal however decided not to prescribe any treatment because there was no point in having one for a couple weeks only to stop it when I was to start on the weight loss programme. Probably forgot to mention that on the first day of the weight loss programme I was to stop taking any medication for diabetes and hypertension. Treatment for autoimmune pancreatitis will continue regardless.

How I got into this mess

So I'm going to tell you today how I've decided to follow up on this weight loss programme by the NHS. In June last year I was feeling very ill and at some point I fainted and that got me to A&E for a check up. And this is where they found out I've got type 2 diabetes. They also did scans of the chest just in case and a few days later I found out that there are complications with my lungs. After months of investigations and a bunch of tests it's been decided that my lungs are OK but unfortunately there was a problem with my pancreas which looked like cancer so they've decided to do more tests. Biopsy was done on the pancreas and the doctors were still unsure what was causing the issue  so they decided to put me on steroids for a couple of months as a diagnostic to see if it's got any effect in which case it might not be cancer but autoimmune pancreatitis. A few months after I did another CT scan and the doctors said they have seen improvement and therefore
